Protect Facebook Account:
More than 1 billion people are using Facebook nowadays. Everyone
has their own privacy on their Facebook account which they surely don’t want to
share with any one else. Some people are aware of Facebook’s basic privacy but
many of them are unaware that how a small mistake can effect their whole
account’s security! Even there are some small mistakes that we overlook while
using our Account and we put our account’s privacy at risk.
Now the question is How to protect Facebook account from
unauthorised access?
Facebook is always trying to make its security better by taking
drastic steps and of course by spending lots of money. But we cannot totally
rely on Facebook.
We here in "get and grow" introduce you to some tips
to make your account’s security reliable and to let you avoid everyday mistakes
that you might be doing on your Facebook Account.
Step-1. Enable your
login notification: When someone tries to access your account from an unauthorised device then you will get the notification instantly and take measures to secure
your personal information.
To Enable Login
Notification:
Go to Home ->
Settings -> Security and Login -> Get alerts about unrecognised logins and Put a Check Mark on this option and click the Save Changes button.
Step-2. Check login
session:
Always check Login/Active session daily or after some days. If
you see anything unusual; any unfamiliar location or device from which your
Facebook account was signed in, never forget to change your password and put up
a strong password.
To Check Active
Sessions:
Go to Home -->
Account Settings --> Security and
Login--> Active Sessions.
Step-3. Enable secure
browsing:
Go to Home->
Account Settings -> Security and
Login -> Secure Browsing.
Step-4. Protect your
profile picture:
Facebook has taken many protective measures to stop people from
making fake accounts by using bots but they can be easily deceived. So, as a
result, anyone can make a fake account by simply putting your profile picture
on their fake account. In order to avoid this problem, Facebook has introduced
a profile picture guard feature. This feature can easily detect if someone is using
your profile picture and instantly notify you to take safety measures to claim
that picture as your own.
To enable this feature:
1- Go to your profile.
2- Open your profile picture
(don't click on update).
3- Click on options at the
bottom of the image and select "Turn on profile picture guard". A
blue shield will appear on your picture and no one will be able to save or
share it anymore.
Step-5. Beware of
third-party logins:
We in our daily life usually interact with some websites or
games who ask for an account to continue or give you an option to login with
Facebook. So instead of making a new one from scratch we usually go with an
easier option and login using our Facebook account which gave them access to
our personal information. We often forget to revoke Facebook access for these
third-party apps and websites when we stop using them. To see and remove of all
the active apps and websites that have access to your Facebook account follow
these steps:
1- Go to settings.
2- Click on app and websites
(little above from left bottom).
3- The whole list will
appear and you can remove access of app or website from there.
*Honourable Mentions*
1- Use a friend, authenticators. (Feature)
2- Don't open unknown links.
3- Try to avoid opening your account on local/public PC.
4- Scan your computer with anti-virus.
5- Don't use same password everywhere.
